My thoughts for the week ending 22 August

Hi every one. I am back after a week of hard work...:) Happy Ganesh Chaturdhi and Ramadan All of you. May this festive season bring a lot of joy and happiness to every one. I really wish we have a peace full co existence.

This week I am planning on talking about a couple of things. First Jaswant Singh's comments on Jinnah. I really feel he made a stupid mistake by his comments. BJP is on a verge of collapsing at this point of time and they are in search of some good leaders after Advani. This is not the time to make those comments. What he said may be true but the whole foundation block of BJP is Hindutva how can he go against it. Is he trying to reach out to Muslim Voters? Then it is a very bad timing. Party has suffered a Humiliating defeat in the general elections. There is lack of leadership in the party and they are trying to rebuild the party from bottom up. Being a senior leader he should have been a bit more responsible. He is continuing his damaging behavior even now by talking to all those TV Channels. Some one needs to talk some sense into him.

Second thing is Sharukh Khan being frisked away at NY Airport. There is a lot of coverage in the TV channels about this and I really think they have wasted a lot of Air time. In AP Drainage water mixed with drinking water and lot of people were hospitalized and we still have a lot of cases of Swine Flu happening in India. People are still dying with Malaria in this twenty first century. We need to concentrate on these things. News channels need to concentrate more on how the government is failing to provide basic facilities like drinking water. He has taken the decision to go to US to do some shows and we need to abide by the rules of that country. I really felt sad when President Kalam was checked on Indian Soil. Why was that not made an Issue. Is it because he is not a movie star and News channels TRP ratings won't go up? Sharukh Khan has made his own decision to go to US and he needs to go by their rules. News paper and TV channels need to concentrate more on day to day issues than publishing affairs of these so called stars.

Have a great week every one.

Indian education system

There was recently a few studies conducted on Indian education. I was outraged by the results. 70 % of the seventh class students can't read a Paragraph which is in class 2 syllabus. They can't write a sentence in English which should have been taught in second standard. What is going on...This is the survey taken across the length and breadth of India. I suspect it will be a bit better in cities than in mandals. This is stupidity. The last 10 years we had 2 very very weak educational ministers who were afraid to reform education in our country. For us to be economic super power by 2020( Many of our great politicians had this vision) we need to first reform our educational system. We need to increase the standard of our education and it should be an all round development for our future engineers. JNTU which is considered as one of the top notch university in India has 27 computer courses for a Computer Engineering student and only 3 other subjects.I think it is not the way to go forward. A best example in our day to day life is an Electrical engineer cannot see what the fault is in his house he needs an electrician who in all probability has not had any formal education but is considered an expert in this field as he got trained in this field with out being put through college. Where are we going with this kind of education. An electrical engineer who does not have any idea of how repair a light in his house? Is this the way we should be shaping our young talent? Reforms for our educational system are long due. Please don't tell me we cannot afford to build new colleges and get new faculty in them. An average Indian student is spending close to 20 lakh for their education over seas. Think what all we can do in India when we get students to enroll in India and spend the money there.

I think we are going into a vicious loop where we don't have a good higher education and we are unable to produce good enough teachers for our primary education. we need to come out of this and start reforming some where..I would think it will be start by building more universities which offer good education. This is the most important thing that needs to be done NOW. Why is it that our politicians don't realize this? Don't we have one good leader who will lead us into a new century? We had some exceptional leaders during our freedom movement. What happened after that? Why have we come to this point where we think politics is only for criminals. Why did we get into the system where we let our leaders and their gundas buy our vote for 5000 rupees and a bottle of Liquor?

One more surprising news is in 1947 India was responsible for 2% of world GDP and we stuggled for 40 years to drop by 1%. After that we scrambled to make reforms and invite multinationals to invest in our country and we are back to 2% now. So 60 years after Independence we have struggled to maintain our development. Is this why our leaders like Mahatma Gandhi fought for out independence? We are a country which started with great aspirations but lost our way in between. We need to get back onto track and we need some good leaders to do that.

We desperately need leaders who will lead us out of all the problems which we are in now. Easier said than done. I think if we are able to change the notion of politics in our next generation graduates we will get some good leaders out of them. Now I think we have good leaders whose talent in being wasted.

Hope all this will change. As famously said by Pres. Obama lets choose Hope over Fear. Happy Independence day

My taughts for the week ending 08 Aug

One more week goes by and nothing much to talk about my job and work...Personal Life is going on kind of good and nothing much to complain about. :) I learned a bit of spring and it was good for me...:)

US: I felt happy that Pres. Clinton was able to get the 2 journalist women back home. Their reunion with their families is worth watching..Any ways all is well that ends well. They are back home and I hope this will be the starting point of negotiations between USA and N.Korea. Health care reforms was another thing that took most of the Air time in all the channels this week. All the senators on their summer vacation and lot of town halls happening. I think they will get a good sense of what people really want. But just sitting back and watching is not the way forward. It's time we pass some health care reforms. Lot of people are hurting with no health care. CARS program is a huge success and we need some more programs like that to get people back on to spending spree. Its good to know that Congress is ready to pay 2 million more for that program. I heard car sales are up and its good to know. I kind of have a good feeling about the economy as well. I think the worst is behind us. I saw Oracle of Omaha talking about how this recession changed the way people invested. People are saving more and got into healthy investment habits. California is one of the states which is still hurting. I hope Governor and State senators work out some thing there.

India: Swine Flu cases are raising at an alarming pace and the small girls who recently passed away in Pune with wrong diagnosis is sad to know. Gov should partner with Private hospitals to move forward and get good treatment to people. People also need to be care full and wash their hands often. Aviation industry is not doing too good and Minister coming out and trying to reduce the fuel prices is very very good. I think all the private airlines and Government can work out a deal quickly. Air India also needs a lot of revamping from ground to up. I travelled to India in Air India couple of times and I feel bad saying the service in the flights is pretty bad. Air Hostess does not answer your questions properly and they are not customer friendly. Basic food prices are on a rise and we need to think of ways to reduce the prices so that common people don't hurt.

AP: Devender Goud rejoining TDP is a big joke. What is he trying to achieve? I mean all these politicians are sooo power savvy that they keep moving parties. I mean he left TDP a year ago started his own party and not even six months into a new party he moved to PRP and now he is rejoining PRP. I mean does he think this is a joke? I really feel we should also move towards 2 party system. and we should have well educated people there who make responsible decisions. We should move away from the High Command system and ML A's need to go to their constituencies to know what people really feel before they vote. Assembly sessions have become a joke with all the walkouts and all the cursing that is going on. Grow up our great ML A's. Please try talking about people and raising prices for a change.

That's it for this week. Have a great week ahead.

Week ending August 01

One more week and nothing much on the personal front...Hope we meet the october 01 dead line..

Technology wise I think the world is watching Yahoo-Microsoft partnership. Its time some one gives tough competition to Google...Google has about 75 percent of the search market captured Its time we need some tough competition for google. I am a big fan of google but I also belive we need some competition to keep google in its toes and not be complacent. I am anxious to see the first cut of google chrome OS..I am also anxious to see Windows 7..Will microsoft be able to answer its critics with this new OS? With the failure of Vista...Pressure is on Microsoft to deliver and with out Mr. Gates..Micrsoft needs to proove it self. I am really intrested in this battle..Two good companies battiling for the Cyber space...Yahoo has fallen apart but it would have been good for it to be able to to compete with these 2 gaints..The only other company which I know of which can compete with these 2 is Amazon...Amazon should start exploring new areas..Online shopping I think they are the best.

Current events...Same old Politics all arroung the world..

Stock markets raise in July has been good news to every one and I hope the money flows into real world soon. We need to reduce the jobless rate....US deficit is also very high...President Obama is pushing real hard for Health care reforms and I think it is time for US to pass these reforms...All the industrialized world is having a good health care plan..so its time for US to lead from the front. I also think its time for US to start some High speed trains..This will increase jobs here and people will have other modes of transport ....Really flight is the best mode of transport now(People who like driving may think other wise)...FBI has done a good job in catching antisocoial elements...I really hope people will realize killing other people will not solve thier problems..Live and let live should be our way out....

India...PM has done a wonderfull job by intiating the peace process with Pakistan....We need to be carefull when we extend out hand for friendship..We need to impose some rules for this friend ship...This week one famous bollywood personality Imran has made communal remarks...If true...We should be ashamed about our selves....I don't know when we will start treating every one equal...

So thats it every one....Have a good week and Happy friend ship day
