My thoughts for the week ending 22 August

Hi every one. I am back after a week of hard work...:) Happy Ganesh Chaturdhi and Ramadan All of you. May this festive season bring a lot of joy and happiness to every one. I really wish we have a peace full co existence.

This week I am planning on talking about a couple of things. First Jaswant Singh's comments on Jinnah. I really feel he made a stupid mistake by his comments. BJP is on a verge of collapsing at this point of time and they are in search of some good leaders after Advani. This is not the time to make those comments. What he said may be true but the whole foundation block of BJP is Hindutva how can he go against it. Is he trying to reach out to Muslim Voters? Then it is a very bad timing. Party has suffered a Humiliating defeat in the general elections. There is lack of leadership in the party and they are trying to rebuild the party from bottom up. Being a senior leader he should have been a bit more responsible. He is continuing his damaging behavior even now by talking to all those TV Channels. Some one needs to talk some sense into him.

Second thing is Sharukh Khan being frisked away at NY Airport. There is a lot of coverage in the TV channels about this and I really think they have wasted a lot of Air time. In AP Drainage water mixed with drinking water and lot of people were hospitalized and we still have a lot of cases of Swine Flu happening in India. People are still dying with Malaria in this twenty first century. We need to concentrate on these things. News channels need to concentrate more on how the government is failing to provide basic facilities like drinking water. He has taken the decision to go to US to do some shows and we need to abide by the rules of that country. I really felt sad when President Kalam was checked on Indian Soil. Why was that not made an Issue. Is it because he is not a movie star and News channels TRP ratings won't go up? Sharukh Khan has made his own decision to go to US and he needs to go by their rules. News paper and TV channels need to concentrate more on day to day issues than publishing affairs of these so called stars.

Have a great week every one.

Indian education system

There was recently a few studies conducted on Indian education. I was outraged by the results. 70 % of the seventh class students can't read a Paragraph which is in class 2 syllabus. They can't write a sentence in English which should have been taught in second standard. What is going on...This is the survey taken across the length and breadth of India. I suspect it will be a bit better in cities than in mandals. This is stupidity. The last 10 years we had 2 very very weak educational ministers who were afraid to reform education in our country. For us to be economic super power by 2020( Many of our great politicians had this vision) we need to first reform our educational system. We need to increase the standard of our education and it should be an all round development for our future engineers. JNTU which is considered as one of the top notch university in India has 27 computer courses for a Computer Engineering student and only 3 other subjects.I think it is not the way to go forward. A best example in our day to day life is an Electrical engineer cannot see what the fault is in his house he needs an electrician who in all probability has not had any formal education but is considered an expert in this field as he got trained in this field with out being put through college. Where are we going with this kind of education. An electrical engineer who does not have any idea of how repair a light in his house? Is this the way we should be shaping our young talent? Reforms for our educational system are long due. Please don't tell me we cannot afford to build new colleges and get new faculty in them. An average Indian student is spending close to 20 lakh for their education over seas. Think what all we can do in India when we get students to enroll in India and spend the money there.

I think we are going into a vicious loop where we don't have a good higher education and we are unable to produce good enough teachers for our primary education. we need to come out of this and start reforming some where..I would think it will be start by building more universities which offer good education. This is the most important thing that needs to be done NOW. Why is it that our politicians don't realize this? Don't we have one good leader who will lead us into a new century? We had some exceptional leaders during our freedom movement. What happened after that? Why have we come to this point where we think politics is only for criminals. Why did we get into the system where we let our leaders and their gundas buy our vote for 5000 rupees and a bottle of Liquor?

One more surprising news is in 1947 India was responsible for 2% of world GDP and we stuggled for 40 years to drop by 1%. After that we scrambled to make reforms and invite multinationals to invest in our country and we are back to 2% now. So 60 years after Independence we have struggled to maintain our development. Is this why our leaders like Mahatma Gandhi fought for out independence? We are a country which started with great aspirations but lost our way in between. We need to get back onto track and we need some good leaders to do that.

We desperately need leaders who will lead us out of all the problems which we are in now. Easier said than done. I think if we are able to change the notion of politics in our next generation graduates we will get some good leaders out of them. Now I think we have good leaders whose talent in being wasted.

Hope all this will change. As famously said by Pres. Obama lets choose Hope over Fear. Happy Independence day

My taughts for the week ending 08 Aug

One more week goes by and nothing much to talk about my job and work...Personal Life is going on kind of good and nothing much to complain about. :) I learned a bit of spring and it was good for me...:)

US: I felt happy that Pres. Clinton was able to get the 2 journalist women back home. Their reunion with their families is worth watching..Any ways all is well that ends well. They are back home and I hope this will be the starting point of negotiations between USA and N.Korea. Health care reforms was another thing that took most of the Air time in all the channels this week. All the senators on their summer vacation and lot of town halls happening. I think they will get a good sense of what people really want. But just sitting back and watching is not the way forward. It's time we pass some health care reforms. Lot of people are hurting with no health care. CARS program is a huge success and we need some more programs like that to get people back on to spending spree. Its good to know that Congress is ready to pay 2 million more for that program. I heard car sales are up and its good to know. I kind of have a good feeling about the economy as well. I think the worst is behind us. I saw Oracle of Omaha talking about how this recession changed the way people invested. People are saving more and got into healthy investment habits. California is one of the states which is still hurting. I hope Governor and State senators work out some thing there.

India: Swine Flu cases are raising at an alarming pace and the small girls who recently passed away in Pune with wrong diagnosis is sad to know. Gov should partner with Private hospitals to move forward and get good treatment to people. People also need to be care full and wash their hands often. Aviation industry is not doing too good and Minister coming out and trying to reduce the fuel prices is very very good. I think all the private airlines and Government can work out a deal quickly. Air India also needs a lot of revamping from ground to up. I travelled to India in Air India couple of times and I feel bad saying the service in the flights is pretty bad. Air Hostess does not answer your questions properly and they are not customer friendly. Basic food prices are on a rise and we need to think of ways to reduce the prices so that common people don't hurt.

AP: Devender Goud rejoining TDP is a big joke. What is he trying to achieve? I mean all these politicians are sooo power savvy that they keep moving parties. I mean he left TDP a year ago started his own party and not even six months into a new party he moved to PRP and now he is rejoining PRP. I mean does he think this is a joke? I really feel we should also move towards 2 party system. and we should have well educated people there who make responsible decisions. We should move away from the High Command system and ML A's need to go to their constituencies to know what people really feel before they vote. Assembly sessions have become a joke with all the walkouts and all the cursing that is going on. Grow up our great ML A's. Please try talking about people and raising prices for a change.

That's it for this week. Have a great week ahead.

Week ending August 01

One more week and nothing much on the personal front...Hope we meet the october 01 dead line..

Technology wise I think the world is watching Yahoo-Microsoft partnership. Its time some one gives tough competition to Google...Google has about 75 percent of the search market captured Its time we need some tough competition for google. I am a big fan of google but I also belive we need some competition to keep google in its toes and not be complacent. I am anxious to see the first cut of google chrome OS..I am also anxious to see Windows 7..Will microsoft be able to answer its critics with this new OS? With the failure of Vista...Pressure is on Microsoft to deliver and with out Mr. Gates..Micrsoft needs to proove it self. I am really intrested in this battle..Two good companies battiling for the Cyber space...Yahoo has fallen apart but it would have been good for it to be able to to compete with these 2 gaints..The only other company which I know of which can compete with these 2 is Amazon...Amazon should start exploring new areas..Online shopping I think they are the best.

Current events...Same old Politics all arroung the world..

Stock markets raise in July has been good news to every one and I hope the money flows into real world soon. We need to reduce the jobless rate....US deficit is also very high...President Obama is pushing real hard for Health care reforms and I think it is time for US to pass these reforms...All the industrialized world is having a good health care plan..so its time for US to lead from the front. I also think its time for US to start some High speed trains..This will increase jobs here and people will have other modes of transport ....Really flight is the best mode of transport now(People who like driving may think other wise)...FBI has done a good job in catching antisocoial elements...I really hope people will realize killing other people will not solve thier problems..Live and let live should be our way out....

India...PM has done a wonderfull job by intiating the peace process with Pakistan....We need to be carefull when we extend out hand for friendship..We need to impose some rules for this friend ship...This week one famous bollywood personality Imran has made communal remarks...If true...We should be ashamed about our selves....I don't know when we will start treating every one equal...

So thats it every one....Have a good week and Happy friend ship day

My taughts for the week ending 25 July

So 1 more week has gone by...and nothing much moving in my personal life except..that my car blew up on the middle of a highway and I had to stand there for 3 hours before it got towed to a mechanic...:) some exciting stuff right.................:) ..Week end went away like a tornado...One party for my friends daughter and preparations took it all away..Phew managing a party for a gathering of 100 is sooo difficult..not sure how people do the event management for thousands..

World is still battling the economic crisis and all the industrialized countries are doing what they can to battle the crisis and really it is very difficult to judge the result now. As the famous saying goes we need to taste the pudding before we comment on the outcome and history will tell us weather what is being done is enough.

US..Washington is trying hard to push for the health care reforms and I think it is time US had those reforms in place. The bill is only half done and there is lot remaining to be done and lot of clarity is needed as to who will pay for the bill. Governor Palin will be quitting the start of next week and I really feel she should have completed her term. Any ways she is going into a personal phase of her life and I wish her all the best in what she does next and I don't think anybody except her has a clue as to what it is. California budget crisis is getting worse day by day...Hopefully the law makers will make a deal soon. House rates are down and I heard Michigan is the place which is hurting the most...They have some very good work force and I think the new hub for renewable energy like wind will be there..They have the work force which can be used in building wind mills. Next week President will be pushing hard for the Health bill and it is clear that it is the number 1 on his priority of things. I hope he succeeds. Afghanistan war one US marine got captured and I hope Army will be able to get him back..8 years into the war this is bad news for the armed forces.

India. One more milestone with the nuclear sub. Kudos to all the people who made it possible..10 years after the nuclear tests condemned by the world we got this...We need to channelize our energies in similar manner to put an Indian on the moon and then to Mars...:) Infrastructure as I always put in my blogs is important. We need good transportation and solid infrastructure for our country to compete with the industrialized world. Dr. Kalam's frisking away by Air carriers is sad to hear but the way politicians are trying to cash in frustrating. This is not the first time it is happening. Our defence minister in the NDA government got the same treatment. Which was condemned then but no steps were taken to avoid these happenings. Veggies and Dal prices are sky rocketing and we need to control these inflated prices.

Andhra pradesh new incident where a elected official got into public eye with molestation allegations. Congress and TDP have 2 different version of the same story..They need to let Police do their investigation with out any pressure and then the truth will be out. It should not be another high profile case side tracked like Actress Pratyusha and Balakrishna's cases.

So that's it for this week...All have a great week ahead...

My taughts for the week ending 18 July

Where do I begin....Last week was pretty hectic in terms of work. phew glad it is over. Hopefully the next week is really good...:) and a bit relaxing...Learning some new technologies has been really good.

US....Economy is showing signs of recovery which I am glad for but unemployment has been going to new highs which is not too good..We need more involvement from the government for us to come out of this mess...Pres. Obama is moving ahead with his health care reforms and his African journey has been delight full..I think he is stepping on multiple boats at the same time..He should concentrate on one thing first and then think about the next and his first priority should be Economy. Health care reforms I agree need to be done but they can wait for some more time...Environment can also wait for a bit more time..I agree all are very very important for us to progress in 21st century. Sec. Clinton is in her Asian tour which is good as she is touching one of the very troubled regions. India-Pakistan relations should improve for the world to be a safer place. Every one needs to realize that we need to help them attain self sufficiency in battling terrorism. I read that they are trying to move ahead in Afghanistan which is really good.

India....Mayawati's Politics are getting a little out of Hand...She needs to concentrate more on the state and congress party is definitely not helping the cause by making those remarks. Moving on Central government is planning for huge educational reforms which is not good. I feel there is a disconnect between reality and actuality..There is no power in most of the schools and we should first concentrate on getting that to the rural India before getting them computers and over that I feel the previous programmes started by the government has been really really good but they are not reaching the people properly..So we need to concentrate on Implementation rather than cooking up new plans with out the old ones not being completely implemented. One more thing is all these days we are praying for rains and once the rain came we don't have proper infrastructure to store the water and use it in a proper way. We need to get good ways to store water properly and generate electricity...

Movies Harry Porter fans had a good time I guess with the latest movie in the series..Did not get the time to see it...Bollywood no good releases this week...New york is the last good movie that has come out. It is really good.

New day tomorrow at work and I really hope it will be good. I need a few good days to complete all the things in my plate....So that's it folks....Enjoy your week.

My thoughts for week ending 11 July...

Hmmm....Last week has been pretty boring for me with regards to work...I started a new Java Project due to some Infrastructure issues things have gone slow than expected..Hope this week they pick up....Enough about work...Now to things happening around me.....

G8 leaders met in Italy and I don't think it went that well...They talked about Environment which is important but I think they should have concentrated more on Financial Issues...Its been a looong Crisis and still people are hurting around the world...

US news channels are coming out of MJ and moving to others news Items...MJ is a greatperformer and an Inspiration to a generation...but is the news of his death worth so mmuchAirtime? I saw some of his videos and he is real good. I admire him as a performer...but is it worth so much news coverage as to where he is being laid to rest? I think they should have talked more about doctors prescribing so many drugs to him. Any ways Moving on Sarah Palin resignation came out of blue and I wish she completed her term as a governer..To climb up the ladder you don't leave the work behind...Coming to Health Bill I hope it passes the Senate...Lot of people with out any health bill..Its not tooo good..Lets wish Health care will be more affordable from now on...

India one more bridge collapses in delhi...won't our leader learn anything? Almost a year ago same thing happened in Hyderabad and for some time finger pointing went on and later people forgot about it.Same thing will happen now....I salute the Architectural Genious of the Bridge in Mumbai...but China built sooo many such bridges in 2008 and we are still way behind..We need to improve in a lot of things...Mayawati I really wish some one will put some sense in her brain..She is wasting soo much money for her birthdays and Statues...I really wish she channels her energies in to something more constructive...She should be commended for what she has achived being a Dalit women...I think a lot of people need to get inspiration from her..She has a charisma which she is wasting in these statues....BJP party is close to collapsing..Its not good in a democratic country to have such a weak opposition...They have no comments about the budget? Thats bad.....I wish them all the luck in thier restructuring and they need one seriously......Moving on India made a step in the right direction by appointing Nandan for the unique ID process..This show that Government is serious about that..I wish him all the best and hope he succeeds...Lot of things need to change and atleast we started moving in the right direction..Infrastructure and Power issues still are pulling back our progress..we still don't have good drinking water and 24/7 power in our state capitals..how bad can it be.......AP has spent billions of rupees buying power from other states..why don't they invest them in power plants and move in the right direction?

I recently saw an interview with JP of Loksatta...He has some good ideas and taughts...I wish he comes to power in 2014 :) AP still the same blame is going on..Oppostion TDP instead of just hitting in the dark needs to concentrate on real issues....

I really am planning to do a weekly blog from now on....:)

Have a good week every one

Happy new year all

Happy new year all. So one more year passed..Phew what a year it has been....Money Markets crashing..Financial crush for people all arround..People losing jobs and war going on in Iraq..Mumbai terrorist attacks...Satyam Crash..The list goes on and on and on..2008 has not been the year of celebrations all arround.

I really hope 2009 will be better and I pray to God to bless every one with good Fortune this year..2009 Opens with a lot of promies.

New Era dawns in US with Obama all set to take office and I think his transitition is going great till now and he made some brilliant Choices. He seems like a good leader and I really hope he brings along some good Ideas to the Office. I wish him and his wonderful team All the best. They will not have a rosy time thats for sure. I really hope people will be able to smile in Main Street as well as wall street as well. Things that need immediate attention other than this is War and missile firing that is happening all over the world. Hope this new year lives up to the promise

India elections round the corner so congress scrambling for those votes and all those decissions revolving arroung that..It will be a good battle with BJP and a third front is comming. Its great to see people comming out to vote and the whole process of elections gives a lot of hope and India being the biggest democratic country in the world. I am sure it will watched with Intrest all arround..2008 has been a bad year with extremists bombing all the major cities and 26/11 will remain a sad day. My taughts and prayers to the people who suffered the pain of losing thier loved ones. Hope the new terror laws work and we can make India a safe place to live all over again. Satyam is another Sad story...I really hope all the emplyees are taken care of and govt bails the company out of its mess..

AP the same old story...YSR going with his massive programs..Chandrababu naidu with his alliances and Chiranjeevi with his road shows...This years election will be full of promise..

Hope this new year with new leader ship will bring a lot of hope to every one...Happy new year all...
